FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 31, 2026 (Kansas City, MO) – As National Bourbon Heritage Month shines a spotlight on America's native spirit this September, one of the country's rising bourbon producers is marking the occasion with a defining milestone. J. Rieger & Co., the award-winning Kansas City distillery that revived one of America's great pre-Prohibition whiskey brands, has unveiled its first-ever 10-Year Straight Bourbon—an exceptionally limited release available exclusively at the distillery starting Saturday, September 19.
Bottled under the reimagined Rieger “Private Stock” label, this offering pays homage to the brand’s deep pre-Prohibition roots. With under 300 bottles available, Rieger Private Stock 10-Year Straight Bourbon Whiskey marks the first entry in a series of quarterly, distillery-exclusive offerings created directly for whiskey enthusiasts. The name "Private Stock" dates back to a 1927 federal court ruling that permitted the Rieger family to move their personal whiskey inventory from the then-shuttered J. Rieger & Co. facility to their home during Prohibition.
“This isn’t manufactured scarcity. This release utilizes the only three 10-year-old barrels we currently have in our inventory.” said Master Distiller Nathan Perry. “It felt important to both honor the history of American Whiskey and the Rieger name by sharing our 10-year Bourbon under the historic ‘Private Stock’ label during National Bourbon Heritage Month.”
The debut comes as Rieger Straight Bourbon Whiskey continues to build a national following for its unique expression of American bourbon—crafted in-house with sweet mash fermentation, distilled through both column and pot stills, and shaped by the distinctive climate and character of Kansas City.
“Our goal has always been to build a collection of exceptional whiskeys that are impeccably made, fairly priced, and true to our legacy,” said Andy Rieger, president and co-owner of J. Rieger & Co. “Rieger Straight Bourbon is a founding pillar of that vision, and this limited 10-year release showcases what patience, craftsmanship, and our unique approach can bring. We could not be more excited to share this with whiskey fans.”
Rieger Private Stock 10-Year Straight Bourbon Whiskey will be available exclusively at the Rieger distillery on Saturday, September 19 at noon. Whiskey fans who want early access are invited to attend the Private Stock First Pour on Thursday, September 17. Tickets are limited and include a guided tasting, appetizers and first access to purchase a bottle.
